Additionally, whatever possessed them to make all units in the game use a weird cardboard cutout cartoony appearance is beyond me, but every unit in the game just looks bad.Īge of wonders is a solid, decent game. Anaemic AI, an incredibly dull and 'unfantasy' appearance, poor city design choices and options and wildly unbalanced heroes make for a poor game. With each release it gets better, but it is still far from actually being good. Also a number of wierd design decisions designed to fix flaws in the original unfortunately have brought their own host of issues that makes the city building aspect of the game unsatisfactory.įallen Enchantress is fundamentally flawed.

Warlock 2 is a fascinating game held back by the fact the AI simply doesn't work. I enjoy both the single and multiplayer but I admit I would appreciate a little more depth from the strategic layer. It's only gotten better and they have been quick to address balance issues. Compared to most games these days it was released in a really nice state - stable, OK balance, feature complete. Lacks multiplayer, if that's a factor.ĪoW3 is quite good. Customizing your own units added some fun and variety to the combat but as others have said the balance is questionable.
